WORKPLACE ACCIDENT

  • Slips, trips and falls can be caused by slippery floors, leaks, debris or equipment left in walkways, uneven floor or working surfaces, uneven carpeting, protruding nails and boards, holes or depressions in working surfaces, uneven steps, and bunched floor mats.

Workers may be at increased risk of being caught in or between hazard accidents caused by machinery and equipment, or by rolling, sliding, or shifting objects.

Poorly-operated machinery, equipment, or vehicles may cause employees to be struck and sustain serious injuries.

Transportation and vehicle-related accidents may occur while the worker is driving on a highway or freeway on a work-related assignment.

Gas and other fire/explosion generating substances can cause severe burns and disfiguring injuries.

Workers engaged in highly repetitive activities, such as typing, lifting, and bending over, may develop a repetitive strain injury (RSI), which is sometimes referred to as a repetitive stress injury. This type of injury occurs due to a gradual buildup of damage to the muscles, tendons, and nerves caused by repetitive motions.

Falling objects can injure nearby employees and cause a range of injuries. Machine entanglement, caused by long hairs, loose clothing, and other items getting caught in a rotating part, can pull the individual into the machine causing serious injury.

The collapse of a temporary or permanent structure could occur during a poorly planned demolition or dismantling process.

A chemical spill could lead to complex and long-term illness, whereas an electrical accident can cause electric shock, electric burns, or electrocution.

A confined space accident occurs in small spaces, such as elevators and shafts, and can pose a risk of slips, trips, falls, suffocation, explosion, and fire.

  • At Westcare Clinics, slip and fall accident injuries may be treated with injections, pain management techniques, and occupational medicine.

While patients are recovering from injuries, their doctor may recommend incorporating pain management techniques into their treatment plan, such as cold and heat therapy, physical therapy, gentle exercise, occupational therapy, music therapy, mind-body techniques, biofeedback, and therapeutic massage. Each patient will receive a customized treatment plan to help manage their pain.

Westcare Clinic doctors may perform a few types of joint and soft tissue injections, which include epidural injections (interlaminar and transforaminal), piriformis injectionsacroiliac joint injections, and trigger point injections. These injections can help ease pain and support recovery.

Occupational medicine focuses on helping an injured individual regain the strength and flexibility they need to go back to work. Westcare Clinics can help employers adapt the workplace to the physical limitations of their injured employee.

  • Survivors of workplace accidents may need complex, long-term care for their injuries. Advanced treatment may include physical therapy, surgery, chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture, and other forms of therapy. Westcare Clinics is here to support injured workers on their journey to healing and is happy to answer any questions they may have about obtaining advanced treatment.

Workplace accidents occur in a wide variety of settings and can cause a range of injuries, from mild and temporary, to severe and life-altering. Employees may sustain injuries from one or more of the different types of workplace accidents.
