After completing his undergraduate work at Williams College in Massachusetts, Dr. Adam Burkey, MD, MSCE began medical school at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. During that time he took two years to do basic research into pain mechanisms under a Howard Hughes fellowship grant. Upon graduation, he spent a year medical internship in New York City and then undertook a residency in Neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. He did a Pain Management fellowship in the Anesthesiology and Critical Care Department at the University of Pennsylvania where he stayed on as an attending physician while completing a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology. He was in private practice in the Philadelphia area for several years and then in Washington State at Seattle Pain Centers, Anesis Spine & Pain Care and now Westcare Clinics. Over the years he has served in the Pain Section of the American Academy of Neurology and on the Educational Committee of the North American Neuromodulation Society.
